OUR HISTORY IS MORE THAN SLAVERY
Life with Black Americans
A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of white people who were fed up with African Americans, so they joined together and wished themselves away. They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without black people.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "by the time we leave for work, Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of Blacks."

Black history includes more than just slavery. It includes great people like Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and W.E.B. Dubois.

NIGHT WATCH SERVICES
ALSO KNOWN AS FREEDOM'S EVE
There is a reason for the importance of New Year's Eve services in African-American congregation s. The Watch Night Services in Black communities that we celebrate today can be traced back to gatherings on December 31, 1862, also known as "Freedom's Eve." On that night, Blacks came together in churches and private homes all across the nation, anxiously awaiting news that the Emancipation Proclamation actually had become law.

What is a nigger? I am not a nigger.
I hate the word. I want it removed from the English language, period.
I am not a nigger.

I want People With Black Skin to rally together to have the word purged from the English language. But the reality is: whites.asians.jews.latins (WAJL)love the word to much. They know how it demeans us and makes look stupid when we call each other it. It apparently has 'transcended' being a slur and now means, of all things...brother.

I really hate that word. In fact, in the PBS filmed adaptation of the Ernest J. Gaines novel, "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman", there is a part where a slave has a secret meeting by a lake to dicuss rights and true freedom for African American slaves. In this speech he describes a 'nigger':

"Do you know what a nigger is? First, a nigger feels below anything on this earth. He doesn't care about himself. He doesn't care about anybody else. He doesn't care about anything. Now he'll never be an American. He'll never be a citizen of any other nation. But, there is big difference between a Black American and a nigger. A Black American cares, and he knows and he struggles. That's why I'm telling you this. That's why I know no son or daughter of mine will ever be a nigger! I want my children to be Black and Proud of it!"
- From 'The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman' by Ernest J. Gaines, 30th Anniversary Presentation - PBS Broadcast

Phantasy Star Online Worldwide Shutdown
It's the end of a true era in online gaming.

It seems like a joke, but it also seemed to be inevitible. The complete shut down of PSO. The first online sci-fi role playing game for consoles. Now the genre is inundated with war games. PSO will remain the lats really fun online SFRPG. Yes, this was really the best game to play online. Now, it's just all war games and sports games that are online. sigh...the true end of an a true era.

A REAL INDEPENDANCE DAY
We celebrate the 4th of July, but why not the Freeing of the Slaves?
We can remember the day Big E. Small died, but what about the day we were set free? December 6 - A DAY TO CELEBRATE -- NEGRO PASSOVER
By James A. Wynn, Jr
Today, the most significant anniversary in African American history will pass with little, if any, recognition. Indeed, nearly all of us don't have clue about the significance of this day for African Americans, which marks the anniversary of the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the historic proviso that officially ended slavery in America.

A True Pioneer (Friday, February 04, 2005)
"I ran because somebody had to do it first."
"In 1968, Shirley Chisholm becomes the first black woman elected to Congress. In 1972, she becomes the first black woman to run for president. Shunned by the political establishment, she's supported by a motley crew of blacks, feminists, and young voters. Their campaign-trail adventures are frenzied, fierce, and fundamentally right on!"
Shola Lynch co-produced and directed this non-narrrated documentary about a truly powerful woman. Sadly, this remarkable woman left this world on January 1, 2005, at the age of 80.

SEPTEMBER 11 IS TERRORIST DAY
No more lies, no more deaths.
A government that LIES to it's people, stays in power if the people allow it.
NO MORE LIES!! NO MORE DEATHS!!
This date five years ago (09/11/2001) the world witnessed planes flkyig into the American World Trade Center Towers in New York City. I will not post the videos here, because they have viewed quite enough.
But, more importantly, this date is the day the World found out, via live television, just how prepared the Most Powerful Super Power is for an attack, on thier own soil, by foreign individuals.

Not quite an anniversary, yet.
It's not quite to the day, but still. In 1996 I started playing on the web. Back then the WWW was still in it's infacy and web pages were very simple, and very scary (loaded with graphics and animated GIFs, and loud MIDI music files. I created my FIRST web site on Tripod.com in January of 1997.

Anywhoo, the web site (pjci.net) will have it's 3rd year anniversary this September having launched in 2003. Big deal? To me it is -- so there!

.netBoard down and up....again (Jan 5-7, 2005)
This time it's not my fault..or is it?!
The MySQL database daemon on my server (AvidHosting) is apparently having issues with the database tables or some such thing. I notified AvidHosting of a potential security risk in PHP version 4.3.9 and suggested they upgrade to version 4.3.10 or 5.x. They upgraded to PHP version 4.3.10. The last time I had access to .netBoard was a couple of days ago. So it may be fault for telling them to upgrade if PHP version 4.3.10 is causing the problems with the MySQL database daemon.
I'm sorry. Oh, and Happy New Year and Happy Holidays!

Didn't even try to stay and fight. I'm absolutely certain that there was vote push for Bush. No way could so many states want him as president again. Not after what he and his administration put this country through for the last fucking four years. This election was a sham just like last time; just like what happened on Setember 11th. .netBoard is being taken for maintainence
Since moving the domain address for .netBoard many of the links to Articles posted before the transition were invalid and those Articles need to be updated. I did not think that restoring the database on the new domain would mean changing the pointers to Articles posted in the forums. But alas, I was wrong. Also, there were alot of typographical errors, CSS configuartion that needed changing. When I was working overnight there were some areas of .netboard that were ignored. .netBoard Members who have registered will be notified when the maintainence has been completed.

Washington, D.C. - Congress today announced that the Office of President of the United States will be outsourced to overseas interests.... The move is being made to save $400K a year in salary, a record $521 billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead. "The cost savings will be quite significant," says Congressman Adam Smith (D. - Wash) who ... has studied outsourcing of American jobs extensively. "We simply can no longer afford this level of outlay and remain competitive on the world stage," Congressman Smith said

The simply aren't enough words to convey the man that was Ray Charles.
Thursday, June 10 2004 at 11:35AM Ray Charles passed away from liver cancer. Rare is it that a treasure that is this man comes along, and becomes an influence to so many, transcending social and racial boundaries. He was a pioneer for many staples of music. The music industry has lost the greatest gift ever given to it. This one man alone has been the inspiration of so many artists and entertainers from all over the world.

Conversation with Dr. Leonard Moore (May 8, 2004)
Dr. Leonard Moore is Director of African American Studies at Louisiana State University who discussed the plight of the African American Athlete.
Today on Tony Brown's Journal (PBS [KCET Los Angeles Channel 28] 2:30pm PST) Dr. Moore discussed with Mr. Brown the state of Male athletes at LSU. He has started a program that will ensure that the athlete reaches for a goal of obtaining a degree after graduating college and not rely solely on the promise of becoming a professional athlete.

Also, please read about Dr. Dean. He is a credit to the African-American community at large and many other communities as well.

Who is Shoshana Johnson? (June 8, 2004)
The media made a big deal about the white POW's while ignoring the African Americans. No surprise.
It bothers me that in this Century people in this country we call America still choose to decide who they think important enough to talk about and to whom. For instance, all the whites blabbered on about that white female POW Jessica Lynch. But, there are others who served their country with pride and received no recognition for it in the white media.

Now, after seeing how they were ignoring here, the media responded by showcasing her around. Many websites have photos of her with various leaders. But ONLY, I noticed, after Lynch got most of the media attention, a TV movie, and a book deal. True that should not be important, but it bothered me. There was an issue involving both recieving different benefits. More

Maybe it is just as well, since those who are humble are better people. There was an e-mail that was sent to me from my dad regarding this courageous woman. She has been profiled in the March issue of Essence magazine.

Misappropiated Props (June 11, 2004)
Was it a year ago that Ruben Studdard won "American Idol"?
Yes, it was. And I didn't even give him any props on this site. For shame on me!!! Well, I will now, because, first: I respect him, second: I bought his CD, "Soulful", when it debuted, and lastly: I'm hearing his music on the radio all the time. No, not on the white stations. We all know they don't do that. Ruben is played on KJLH, KBET (The Beat), and occasionally K-PWR (Power). Ruben has done great and kept his presence in the public's eye. Ruben Studdard: Soulful can be purchased online (Amazon, Barnes and Noble) or in music stores everywhere.

When I saw the first 15 seconds I wasn't surprised why the two hip hop stars were not happy with their new show that aired last Wednesday on FOX. I personally thought it was going to be a televised comedy (no live audience) like Bernie Mac and Malcom in the Middle. Instead, it's filmed like a televised comedy, but get this: with a laugh track. Yeah, a laugh track on a show with no live audience. They stopped doing a loooooong time ago. This show will not last throughout the season, believe that.

Even  though they were told they weren't good enough to win they still went on to become stars in thier own right.
ABC in 1999 aired a program called "Making the Band", on it Bryan Chan made it to the top eight, only to be sent home when the final five were announced. Likewise, in 2003 FOX aired "American Idol", and Kimberly Locke made it also to the final three, only to be sent home. But now both of these very talented individuals have released thier own debut CDs.

Bryan Chan's The Solo Sessions is available on his web site, www.bryanchanonline.com It is a testament to the belief that no one can stand in the way of one's dream except oneself. You are no Superpower when small countries are not afraid to oppose you.
When this country dropped two weapons of mass destruction on two Japanese islands, there was cause to be afraid of the USA. Now, that is no longer the case. I have seen the video of the beheading of the late Mr. Berg and now I feel I must get this off my chest.

Re-design (May 1, 2004)
I have finally gained enough skills to effectively create my new look. As mentioned last month I am using Macromedia's MX Studio to design my web site. The main interface was designed with Fireworks MX, whereas the rest was using Dreamweaver MX. While not all the pages elements are complete I have managed to successfully integrate all that I learned into creating a more interactive look and feel. Of course the look will change frequently as I become more familiar with the new software and what I really want. Stay tuned.

Re-direction (April 22, 2004)
Changing trends tend to make one re-evaluate ones direction, both personal and professional. This has undergone too many changes to even begin to list. I am using Dreamweaver 6.0, as well as Fireworks 6.0, Flash, Freehand 10, JRun4.0, Authorware 6.5, Director, and finally ColdFusion 6.0.

This is the first time I have used web design and layout programs to build a web-site. I usually just use a text editor and edit the HTML directly by hand. But since I downloaded these as a free 30-day trials I decided to give it a try.
I was very skeptical about using these programs, because I prefer the hands-on approach that HTML editing gave me. Also, I happen to think that these applications were designed for dummies who didn't want to learn HTML. But at the same time they offer my the ability to do things I couldn't on my own. Since re-envisioning this site has taken some time to get underway, the News Archives page will be revised to reflect these changes. Also, the layout will change as well. I originally envisioned a graphically based interface. However, I would need time to create all the images need to accomplish that.
